Obama’s Ode to Khrushchev - by Brock Grisham

Ode to Khrushchev

“You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you’ll finally wake up and find you already have communism.” - Nikita Khrushchev

Obama’s secret society is hard at work. Composed of shadowy Czars and secretive Senators, the liberal juggernaut pushes forward, oblivious to public opinion. The same form of government we sought to defeat during the cold war is alive and well in our nation’s capital. The United States is no longer a Government of the people, by the people, for the people. Nikita Khrushchev, it appears, was right…

Health Care Reform consists of an unseen bill, political payoffs and skyrocketing taxes. The legislation that no one seems to want is being shoved down our collective throats like a large dose of children’s cough medicine. Supported by only a third of Americans, Health Care Reform will cost us all; either through higher premiums, higher taxes or a combination of both. Liberal Senators have staked their precarious careers on our ignorance in an effort to satisfy the President’s festering ego.

Those of us doubting the actual cost of such a bill need only look at Cash for Clunkers. At $24k per car, our Government can’t even manage a used car program, much less your medical needs. How about the recent Stimulus Bill at $200k per job created? Does Medicare and Social Security ring a bell? For those of you that still don’t believe, just look at the Veterans Administration - this is a snapshot of your medical future. Despite a dedicated group of caring professionals, this tangled web of procedures, waiting rooms and piles of paperwork tests even the most enduring veteran. Take it from someone who knows.

After covert White House rendezvous, secret midnight sessions and final details concealed from the public, our legislators are ready to vote. Vote on what? This does not sound like the United States I grew up in, but more like the Russian Duma or Darth Vader. Make no mistake; this bill is mandated socialism which directly affects each and every one of us. What’s needed is robust competition, free markets across state lines and incentives for small businesses, not Government regulation and Federal oversight. I seem to recall that our founding fathers were literally fighting this type of tyranny.

Where is the transparency, bi-partisanship and full disclosure that Candidate Obama promised to America?

It looks like politics as usual at any cost – no holds barred. Obama and his cronies want nothing more than your hard earned dollars to fund their social experiments. No more a leader than a politician, the best gift our President can deliver this Holiday Season year is NOTHING - NADA, ZILCH, ZERO. Stay out of our economy, stay out of our healthcare and stay out of our lives.

President Obama has indeed brought Nikita Khrushchev’s words to fruition. In doing so, he has perhaps given us the most valuable gift of all. Unable to keep his promises to his constituents while stirring the conservative base, the President has all but guaranteed a single term for himself and has cemented a Republican Congress in 2010.

Despite arguments to the contrary, medical coverage is not an obligation or a “right” – it is earned. Feel free to disagree with me if you like. After all, this is still the United States of America…

Isn’t it?
