Democrats, Dictators and Diatribes: A Presidential Report Card
Subject: The Economy, by Brock Grisham
As President Obama audaciously integrates the role of Government into our daily lives, the US Economy continues to decline. Both at home and on the world stage, the dollar is becoming less relevant than ever. Although I have never claimed to be an economist by any stretch, I can see what’s happening in my own life as a consumer.
Oil and Gas continue to creep upward, impacting the cost of everything. Prices at our local Wal-Mart continue to rise unabated, making dining-in more expensive than ever. Local, State and Federal Governments consider scrupulous new taxes to cover ever increasing shortfalls. These increases are not driven by any real shortage or consumer demand. There are plenty of potato chips, road crews and oil reserves to keep us running for hundreds of years. The real motivators behind this inflation are not tangible: today’s markets are driven by fear, perception and forecasts.
Our President, Barack Hussein Obama, is scaring the hell out of American business owners and informed consumers alike; enacting overreaching regulations and printing worthless pieces of green to fund his social ambitions. The President has created a genuine perception that our economy will closely mirror those post Soviet-block countries; actively redistributing our hard earned paychecks. The President consciously panders to the world community, willfully devaluing our currency by subjecting our economy to the whims of foreign leaders that foresee a future without the dollar. President Obama continues to stir fear at home and hopes abroad by creating a perception that the United States will enthusiastically embrace the New World Economic Order.
The economic mirage skillfully painted and reinforced by the Democratic left brought us the recent stimulus package, Cash for Clunkers and a long chain of bank-bail-out programs. Our President and his cronies have ‘rescued’ hundreds of failing institutions that have already proven their inability to succeed in a free-market economy. Ignoring the fact that this money actually belongs to our great grandchildren, try sending $10,000 to every American and see what happens with the economy, Mr President. I don’t know about you, but if I can’t make ends meet, I can’t print more money. I do not rely upon the Federal Government to succeed: That’s what makes me an American!
Mr President, if you want to help the economy, try easing taxes on the average consumer, the businesses they frequent and the money they earn. As it stands, the average American pays well over 30% of their income in taxes, closely approaching the socialist based European economies. I do not wish to pay additional taxes for your social welfare programs: I do not trust you or your Congress with MY money. Just like every American family does when times get tough, the Government needs to do better with the money it has. Printing more money then taking it from our pockets isn’t the answer, Mr President.
With national unemployment at a record 10%, inflation running wild and many states unable to meet payroll, I submit to you that the President’s policies have failed. We were promised hope and change: Unfortunately, I am unable to deposit either of these in my bank account. While the President has been busy performing on the world’s stage, American’s have lost faith in their Economy, and by extension, our President. With the exception of China, General Motors and ACORN, I don’t know of a single person; Democrat, Republican or Independent – who has benefited from our new economic leadership in Washington.
While the Executive office of the President has very little impact on my daily life as an American, my wallet is one exception. The President has the ability to immediately impact our faith-based economy. Unfortunately, he is leading this great country down the wrong road with his words and actions, pulling us deeper into this recession.
I have faith in my ability to earn a living and provide for my family without Government interference. Come to think of it, that’s a lot like our founding fathers. Come to think of it, maybe that’s the biggest difference between Democrats and Republicans.
Grade: F
Cliff Notes: Mr President, keep Big Government where it belongs: Washington DC!
