Supreme Court upholds 2nd Ammendment - Right to Bear Arms - Video Added.
June 26, 2008
In a huge decision today, the Supreme Court upheld a citizens right to bear arms. This decision struck down one of the most stringent gun control laws in the country, in Washington D.C.
Justice Scalia wrote the opinion for the majority:
Writing the court’s majority opinion, Justice Antonin Scalia said the Second Amendment protected an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.
Although an individual now has a constitutional right to own guns, that new right is not unlimited, wrote Scalia, a hunter.
Of course it came down to party lines with all of the liberals voting against this.
Well, at least for one day, the good guys win one.
