This is not a good sign. Big time industrial donors that gave big money to George W. Bush is shunning John McCain and actually giving to the Democratic candidates.
Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, is struggling to attract money from some of the same industries that helped bankroll President George W. Bush’s record-setting fund-raising.
Employees from the securities, construction, pharmaceutical and energy industries, who accounted for about a tenth of Bush’s money in 2004, are turned off by his record and giving more to his Democratic rivals, Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
“A significant percentage of your base Republican support, whether financial or otherwise, are not fans of McCain because of various things he’s done or said or sponsored,” said Republican consultant Eddie Mahe, who is supporting the Arizona senator. “Many of them don’t see Mr. McCain as being a lot better” than the Democrats.
What does that tell you? Maybe Mr. McCain’s thinking is completely skewed. He’s thinking that he needs to be in the middle….and get the independent vote to win the White House. Well, Mr. McCain, maybe you are just not conservative enough to win either.
I know that I am a reluctant voter in November. John McCain for me, is basically the lesser of two evils. Looks like the money people look at him the same way.
Say what you want about President Bush, but, he got the money. McCain is just too wishy washy on a lot of things.
