Rep. Steve King: If Obama wins, terrorists will be dancing in the streets
March 8, 2008
Well, with that statement, Mr. Obama’s camp went bananas.
Barack Obama’s campaign wants John McCain to denounce Iowa Rep. Steve King’s claims to a local newspaper that terrorists would be “dancing in the streets” if Obama is elected president.
The GOP congressman said he is a McCain supporter, and the Obama campaign is looking for the Arizona senator to give King the same finger wag he gave Cincinnati talk-show host Bill Cunningham when he referred to Obama three times as “Barack Hussein Obama” while introducing McCain.
“These comments have no place in our politics, and we hope Senator McCain will repudiate them like he has previous offensive comments from his supporters,” Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said in a statement.
Of course when any Democrats have disparaged the President of the United States, there is a “place in our politics” for that. Or when the Democratic Senate leader Harry Reid says “I believe … that this war is lost”, there is a “place in our politics” for that.
Let’s actually think about the premise for Steve King’s statement. Would terrorists, terror groups, and terrorist nations actually be happy if the Democrats won the White House in November? With that, we will go back to some quotes after the Democrats won both houses of Congress in November 2006.
First, from the Al Qaida leader in Iraq at the time:
Will Democrats now help win the war in Iraq? Al Qaeda-in-Iraq’s leader, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, had this to say, “The victory day has come faster than we expected.”
He continued with his thoughts about the meaning of Democrat’s in power, “Here is the Islamic nation in Iraq victorious against the tyrant. The enemy is incapable of fighting on and has no choice but to run away.” Adding, “The American people have put their feet on the right path by … realizing their president’s betrayal in supporting Israel.” Concluding, “So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections.”
Hmm…well, Al Qaeda seemed happy at the time that the Democrats won. Of course, since then, the United States has slaughtered most of Al Qaeda in Iraq, despite Congress, which is led by the Democrats.
Let’s go over to the Iranians. I would consider them an enemy of the United States and a terrorist nation. They are also huge backers of terror groups all over the world. Namely Hezbollah and Hamas, who routinely kill women and children.
Here is what the “real” leader of Iran said at the time:
Iran’s grand pooh-bah, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, sees great things ahead for Iran’s power—nuclear and otherwise. “Since Washington’s hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation,” he said. Khamenei then lauded progress in Iran’s long range missile program, but speculated that America was so easy to defeat that such missiles would not be needed. “With the scandalous defeat of America’s policies in Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Afghanistan, America’s threats are empty threats on an international scale.” It’ll be just like the good old days of the Carter Administration!
Well, Iran seemed pretty happy at the time of the Democrats win. I’m starting to see a common theme here….
Next, lets go to terrorist country and leader wannabe Hugo Chavez:
Hugo Chavez sees things looking up for the spread of neo-Marxism in the Americas, now that the party of his friend and oily apologist, Rep. Bill Delahunt is back in power. As reported proudly in the Chavista-funded propaganda outlet Venezuela Analysis. The piece began, “In an extensive press conference of over four hours with representatives from the international media, Venezuelan President Chavez welcomed the U.S. Democratic Party’s success in Tuesdays elections.” Chavez declared, “We see [the Democrats’ win] with optimism, not for Venezuela, but for the world.”
Well, with friends like that, I’m surprised that the Democrats haven’t won more. I’m sure Mr. Obama’s win in November would be hailed by these people and more.
So, YES, Mr. Obama, I think terrorists WILL be dancing in the streets if you win in November. God help us all if that happens.

I bet you loved Hillary´s 3 a.m. ad, too… Ha ha ha. It´s sad that most of America still likes to live in fear, so as to be better manipulated. Your article tries to do just that. Bush is the biggest terrorist on the map, but most people don´t want to have to see that.
In response to Kris — The reason we are fighting Islamic extremists now, is because Bill Clinton let them and the Taliban breed in Afghanistan while he was President — and he didn’t have the foresight to realize that those Islamic extremists would eventually attack the United States. You think most of America “likes” to live in fear, be manipulated? I’ll bet you thought Sept. 11th was just a conspiracy too, that terrorism is not a real threat. People who think like you will get us all killed.
Well Kris,
You know what’s sad? People like you that live life with rose colored glasses on and actually have no clue on what’s going on. Do you remember something called September 11th, 2001? Or, the 1993 WTC bombings, just to mention two attacks on this country. I could go on, but, it would not matter to you.
As far as being “manipulated” goes, what have Obama and the democrats done to you? Obviously, they’ve “manipulated” you into believing their nonsense.
But, that’s what is great about this country. People like you are allowed to speak their minds just like me.
Unlike other countries out there, that we ‘live in fear” from.
Hey libnot……..you are so correct about everything you wrote - just look what’s happening all over the EU. They’re doomed!
Not only will the Muslim extremists of the world dance in the street upon Obama’s election - so too will the Marxists/Leninist/Socialists that occupy Congress.
I think Steve King is an idiot. America lives in fear of terrorists because the media and politicians use this as a strategy of fear an manipulation to further their own personal goals. Human nature tends to pay attention to things which can bring harm to them. This is a natural occurance and it is mean to keep us safe(natural safety mechanism). People abuse it and send out a false sence of panic in order to further their own agenda. Look at Mcain, bush, Rudy Guliani to name a few. All of their campaigns are and were run on a fear platform. Listen, Thank you america for looking out for the counties in the world who may need help but why dont you guys just do what is good for you. We are not in a world, currently, where people appreciate your help. Get your troops out of Afghansitan and Iraq and focus on building your economy. MIND your OWN business. Take care of your people before you are concerned about the world. You worry about attackes because you bring it to yourself(foreign policy). You justify your occupation and invasions aroun dthe world by saying that it is needed to maintain peace in the reagion, protect america and the world. Its like a catch 22, you will never be free of this until your foreign policy changes.Go back to what made america great. Remember the 50’s. It was all about america and no1 else in the world mattered. Let the UN be the world watchdog. That is their role.
Obama has already given the impression to the world by showing that he is not wearing the American Flag Lapel pin and his wife Michelle is now only proud to be an American. These extremist burns the American flag and tramples it, so they are happy that somebody like that who does not respect and wear the Lapel pin comes to the White House. And also Obama says something and do something different. Hillary and Mc cain are the true Patriots of America.
First of all, Representative King’s comments were in regards to someone with the NAME “Barack Obama” being elected President–not the Senator himself. Thus implying that the people should fear him not because of his “inexperience” or even because of his policy standpoints, but rather because of the sound of his name. Now what kind of free America is this when a man cannot stand up to do what he thinks is right for this country (no matter what anyone else thinks) without being criticized for his name?
Secondly, perhaps you all should go read history–there are many reasons we are fighting Al Qaeda and they began long before Clinton was in office.
Thirdly, you all are dumb and don’t deserve my words any longer. Grow some brains and get out of your Conservative mind-trap mine-fields. You are the reason other countries hate us. You are the reason they would like us wiped off the face of the earth. After reading the idiocy of your thoughts, i understand that compulsion.
