Well, it looks as if the Democrats have given up once again. Michael Mukasey looks like he will be confirmed to be the next Unites States Attorney General. Diane Feinstein and Chuck Schumer voted to send the confirmation to the Senate floor. Schumer had to vote for Mukasey as he was recommended to the President by Schumer.

The AG-designee’s confirmation was held up by this whole “water boarding torture” technique that is the democrat’s buzz word of the month.

Michael Mukasey’s nomination as the nation’s next attorney general was sent to the full Senate on Tuesday as a vehicle for the broader, and more bitter, debate over the legality of the Bush administration’s interrogation techniques for terrorism suspects.

The retired federal judge was expected to win confirmation easily by the end of next week, but not without significant floor discussion inspired by his refusal to say that waterboarding amounts to illegal torture.

Within hours of the Judiciary Committee’s 11-8 endorsement of the nomination Tuesday, Mukasey’s name was invoked in the same sentence as “torture” in a campaign appeal on behalf of Democrats.

“If he can’t say no to torture, we say no to Mukasey,” read a letter sent out by Friends for Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader who had announced earlier in the day he would vote against confirmation.

The democrats are so concerned about terrorist’s feelings and interrogation techniques that they have let the office of the Attorney General go unoccupied since the last one resigned. The dems are unbelievable! I’m so glad that they are more worried about the rights of maniac terrorists and Islamic jihadists than they are for our country. Makes me feel so much better. I’m glad that they are looking out for us, their constituents, rather than terrorists. Right.

Well, America, I hope you wake up before it’s too late. If the democrats get into office next year, all bets are off.

Besides raising taxes, maybe they’ll have Osama Bin Laden in for peace talks and a prisoner exchange. I wouldn’t put it past them.
