Today’s Quote - John McCain
October 27, 2007
Congressman Phil Gingrey (R-GA) recently introduced the Earmark Reform Act, H.R. 3738 (also known as the PORK REFORM ACT) - a bill that would in effect cut earmarks in half and eventually eliminate them all together….a splendid idea.
A piece of PORK that was destined for passage as part of a spending bill - an earmark of $1 million intended for a museum to recollect that wonderful world event in 1969….The Woodstock Concert! Ahhh yes, those were the days. The owners of the Woodstock property apparently donated several thousand dollars to Hillary’s campaign chest in appreciation….sadly the bill was defeated.
Adding some humor to the bill’s demise was the subject of “Today’s Quote,” Sen. John McCain. That old long-time resident of the Hanoi Hilton quipped, “Hillary tried to get a million dollars for the Woodstock museum. I understand it was a major cultural and pharmaceutical event. I couldn’t attend. I was tied up at the time.”
