Let me get this straight. Ex Mexican President Vicente Fox is complaining that our immigration policies are being guided by the United States being racist towards Mexico and the Mexican people who ILLEGALLY come here?
Former Mexican President Vicente Fox said Monday that the United States is letting racism dictate its policies, especially when it comes to immigration.
“The xenophobics, the racists, those who feel they are a superior race … they are deciding the future of this nation,” he said, without naming names, in an interview with The Associated Press.
In his first interview to promote his new book, “Revolution of Hope,” Fox applauded President Bush’s desire to pass an immigration accord that would allow more Mexicans to work legally in the U.S.
But he criticized Bush for failing to pass the promised reform.
“There was always a reason for why it couldn’t be done. ‘It is not possible because of the elections.’ He couldn’t touch the topic because this election is very important, or because security was more important,” Fox said.
Vicente Fox is criticizing the United States when his own country cannot provide a stable life for its own citizens? Or jobs? Or security? That is the reason why so many Mexican nationals come here. It’s not for the water!
Mexican Nationals come here because Mexico is a corrupt, horribly run country. Think about it. Mexico has two pristine shorelines with huge tourist capabilities. But, the country is so corrupt that the Mexican government cannot pour enough capital into these beautiful shorelines to make a difference. Do you really think people want to leave their homes, their families, etc., to go to a foreign country, that does not even want them, just to work?
Another great quote from Fox:
“To be so repressive isn’t democractic or free … to be putting up fences, chasing Mexicans, that isn’t right,” Fox said. “The U.S. needs better answers than repression, weapons and violence.”
To be so repressive. Give me a break! Mexico locks down their southern border to keep out illegals from the rest of South and Central America coming into Mexico.
The Mexican authorities report that detentions and deportations have risen in the past four years by an estimated 74 percent, to 240,000, nearly half along the southern border. But they acknowledged there had also been a boom in immigrant smuggling and increased incidents of abuses and attacks by corrupt law enforcement officials, vigilantes and bandits. Meanwhile, the waves of migrants continue to grow.
Few politicians have made public speeches about such matters. But Deputy Foreign Minister Gerónimo Gutiérrez recently acknowledged that Mexico’s immigration laws were “tougher than those being contemplated by the United States,” where the authorities caught 1.5 million people illegally crossing the Mexican border last year.
Hey Vicente Fox, why don’t you start worrying about your own country and try fixing Mexico first, before throwing stones at ours?
