One of my best friends, KJM, sent an email to me today, which is seen below. I considered whether to post it here, since I could not verify its authenticity. Some on the web say it is real and others say it is not. I have decided to err on the side of “throwing caution to the wind” and list it herein anyway.
Even if the story is not true, it still holds value to what happened during our VICTORY IN VIET NAM and what is certainly happening today and the Liberals influence during both the Viet Nam War and our current WAR against terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I’ve taken the liberty of using upper case letters above, VICTORY IN VIET NAM, since when at my first unit reunion for the 11th ACR in Louisville, KY about 10 days ago….during the banquet that seated about 1600 people my old, excellent platoon leader got up to offer a toast at the podium. Just as he finished his words I yelled out at the top of my lungs, “AND WE DIDN’T LOSE!” The reaction from those in attendance was as expected, because….WE DID NOT LOSE THAT STINKIN’ WAR AND IF THE LIBERALS HAVE THEIR WAY WE’LL LOSE THIS ONE!
I have always maintained we either learn from our history or we make the same mistakes as in the past. This country should have learned an important lesson during the Vietnam War We obviously have not learned anything. A biased anti war media does not help America during war. A balanced media without any anti war bias would be refreshing and might even avoid the same mistakes of the past.
While I respect those who choose to oppose the war, it is their right; the bias of the mainstream media and liberals in Congress ensures another defeat in Iraq. Once that defeat is accomplished the blame will fall on the Bush Administration and the military. Just like it was the fault of the Johnson Administration and the military in Vietnam. While those really responsible, leftist media, liberal congress will take no responsibility.
The quote below is from the man who led the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. His words were astonishing, and certainly the leaders of Al-Qaeda have the same sentiments in their war with us today. Remember this; after the Democrats and liberal media, succeed in ending the current surge that is just now beginning to hurt the enemy.
“What we still don’t understand is why you Americans stopped the bombing of Hanoi. You had us on the ropes. If you had pressed us a little harder, just for another day or two, we were ready to surrender! It was the same at the battles of TET. You defeated us! We knew it, and we thought you knew it. But we were elated to notice your media were definitely helping us. They were causing more disruption in America than we could in the battlefields. We were ready to surrender. You had won!” ?
