Democrats are going to drag their feet for a few weeks with the funds for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, so that they can figure out a new plan, since their old one didn’t work. If you call it a “plan” anyway. They bet that the surge would fail miserably, but, it didn’t. Now, onto the next plan!
I can understand if you don’t agree with the war. Or, if you do agree with the war. I can understand that this is a very passionate issue in this country right now. I also understand that the Democrats are getting hammered by their out in left field constituents over the war in Iraq.
Democrats are in a tough spot. Still lacking enough votes in the Senate to pass legislation ordering troops home by spring, they would have to soften their approach if they want to attract more Republicans. But doing so would rile much of the party’s rank-and-file, elected on anti-war platforms and eager to cut off money for combat.
However, what I can not understand is messing with the funding of the war effort, which directly impacts our soldiers. The Democrats, led by our favorite ex-Marine, John Murtha, are going to ignore a request for funds for Afghanistan and Iraq until November.
“Just because this administration wears blinders, we cannot afford the limitations of their shortsighted world view,” said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., a Vietnam veteran and prominent war critic.
This playing with the lives of our soldiers for political purposes. This is worse than anything that the Democrats could possibly do. I understand politics, but not this. The Democrats will say that it won’t effect the day to day operations.
Well, I have first hand knowledge that it does. The military already has to cut down on training and using live ammunition in the day to day operations because the Democrats want to play politics. These people will do anything to hold onto power and to gain more power, even if it costs American soldiers lives.
Oh, by the way, these soldiers are protecting the Democrats as well.
