As we wrote last night, Katie Couric and CBS news, is reporting that there is “real progress” in Iraq in terms of “security and stability”.
There is more to this story:

“We hear so much about things going bad, but real progress has been made there in terms of security and stability,” Couric said Tuesday. “I mean, obviously, infrastructure problems abound, but Sunnis and U.S. forces are working together. They banded together because they had a common enemy: al Qaeda.”

Katie is reporting this from Fallujah, where, U.S forces had to go in not once, but twice to quell uprisings and take control.

Now Fallujah is “considered a real role model of something working right in Iraq,” Couric said.

What does that say about the progress going on in Iraq? Fallujah was the scene of many horrors and now the locals are coming together for Iraq. Not, Shia, or Sunni, but, Iraq! The Sunnis are joining the Iraqi Security Forces in record numbers!

However, Sunnis in Anbar continue to join the ISF.

“The spike in police has really been significant,” Couric said. “The incidents in Iraq have gone down dramatically.”

What is amazing to me, is that Katie Couric, of CBS News, Dan Rather’s CBS news, is reporting this! Where is the rest of the “mainstream media”? There is obvious progress going on in Iraq and some networks and people just want to continue to dwell on the negatives. Of course, Iraq is not perfect right now. But, progress is progress! Let’s try to dwell on some positives and get this thing won and get those Iraqis everything they need to succeed with this democracy.

Maybe Katie Couric is just doing this for ratings, but, maybe she’s not. Let’s just hope that she’s not. Let’s support our troops and support our President.
